Decaf Caldas is a collection of lots. Removing caffeine from the green coffee before export saves on time and energy, which equates to improved flavor and lower costs. This process is placing the green coffee in a bath with a solvent to draw out the caffeine. The solvent is locally made ethyl acetate which is made from sugarcane. Once caffeine has been removed, the remaining solution is put back into a tank with the coffee to be reabsorbed.
