Karatina Coffee Factory has extremely high standards from acceptance of cherry to fermentation, washing, and drying processes. This standard of quality allows the Co-operative to directly negotiate with buyers, like Ruby, for high premiums, compared to selling it on auction. Funds collected by the co-operative from the last harvest are also made available to members to pay for school fees, fertilizer, or other needs before harvest season begins.
