Funky & Fruity

Black Is Beautiful is a collaborative coffee project highlighting Black-led roasters across the country. Each participating roaster selects a coffee that represents their sourcing philosophy and roasting style. This limited-run Anaerobic Gesha from Portrait reflects their commitment to clarity, intention, and showcasing distinctive lots that push flavor forward while maintaining balance. We're tasting juicy mango and papaya in addition to more delicate notes of wildflower honey and green tea.

Understanding roast levels

Roast level affects both flavor and body. Here's what to expect from each.

Light

Best for: those that prize delicate flavors and a tea-like feel above intensity.

Light-Medium

Best for: those that enjoy juicy acidity and gently caramelized sugars.

Medium

Best for: those that enjoy balance and classic flavors like cocoa and nuts.

Medium-Dark

Best for: those looking for classic coffee flavors with a kiss of roast.

Dark

Best for: those that love intense, smoky flavor and a full body above all else.

Trade Tip

Roasters don’t always agree on roast level — one roaster’s dark might look the same as another’s medium. We taste and assign every coffee our own roast level, so your matches stay consistent no matter who roasted them.
