Funky & Fruity

2026 has been an amazing year for Rwandan coffees, and this is our absolute favorite to date. This anaerobic natural process delivers all kinds of citrus flavors like lime and tangerine with big berry, floral, and tart hibiscus notes--just a total fruit bomb.

To achieve this flavor profile, the team at Kilimbi Coffee Washing Station seals whole coffee cherries in plastic tanks with a water-filled sheet to create an oxygen-free environment and ferment for 48 hours. Afterward, the cherries are carefully dried as a natural coffee over several weeks. It's absolutely worth the effort and if you like fruity coffees, you'll love this one.

Understanding roast levels

Roast level affects both flavor and body. Here's what to expect from each.

Light

Best for: those that prize delicate flavors and a tea-like feel above intensity.

Light-Medium

Best for: those that enjoy juicy acidity and gently caramelized sugars.

Medium

Best for: those that enjoy balance and classic flavors like cocoa and nuts.

Medium-Dark

Best for: those looking for classic coffee flavors with a kiss of roast.

Dark

Best for: those that love intense, smoky flavor and a full body above all else.

Trade Tip

Roasters don’t always agree on roast level — one roaster’s dark might look the same as another’s medium. We taste and assign every coffee our own roast level, so your matches stay consistent no matter who roasted them.

    Solid Anaerobic

Really like this one. It says Sauvignon blanc on the label but reminds me of a beautiful cold climate Pinot noir with the cherry / red fruit notes and then an underlying earthiness.
