Understanding roast levels

Roast level affects both flavor and body. Here's what to expect from each.

Light

Best for: those that prize delicate flavors and a tea-like feel above intensity.

Light-Medium

Best for: those that enjoy juicy acidity and gently caramelized sugars.

Medium

Best for: those that enjoy balance and classic flavors like cocoa and nuts.

Medium-Dark

Best for: those looking for classic coffee flavors with a kiss of roast.

Dark

Best for: those that love intense, smoky flavor and a full body above all else.

Trade Tip

Roasters don’t always agree on roast level — one roaster’s dark might look the same as another’s medium. We taste and assign every coffee our own roast level, so your matches stay consistent no matter who roasted them.

    Solid offering

This is a really tasty coffee. Description is accurate, and really like the level of acidity. I think I may still need to make a few grind adjustments because my base grind leads to a pour over that pushes the 4 min mark, and I'm typically closer to 3.5 or even 3 min.

Longer steep time isn't hindering flavor but I wonder if I can get more out of this one.

Would definitely get this one again.

    Very good

Great tasting coffee, no harsh bitterness, just a pleasant sweetness in the cup.
