About Us

At Trade, we believe that anyone can make great coffee at home when they have access to roasts and tools tailored to their preferences. So we’ve curated over 450 coffees from 60+ small-volume roasteries around the USA, and we pair each customer with their perfect match through a simple online quiz. The result? Our customers have been obsessed, ordering over 9-million bags of coffee to date. Now, Trade is poised to accelerate our growth as the premier online destination for the $14-billion at-home coffee market…and we need your help.

The Role

As Trade’s Director of Operations, you will own the partnerships and processes that make it possible for us to deliver on the exceptional experience our customers have come to expect. You’ll do so while generating value for our partners–mostly locally-run specialty coffee roasters–and for the company. You will develop and implement operating frameworks and partner guidelines while identifying opportunities for Roasters to drive incremental revenue through enhanced operational execution and new customer-facing initiatives. The company will give you the freedom to work strategically and creatively while also creating accountability for a well-defined set of KPIs.

As the Director of Operations, you will:

  • Define, deploy, and manage a new strategy for organizing and incentivizing our network of partners with the goal of creating win-win-win opportunities for our customers, our partners, and our company
  • Plan and execute fulfillment strategies across roasters, 3PL partners, and carriers to maximize customer satisfaction while optimizing costs; this includes well-defined SLAs and management guidelines
  • Develop and own quarterly and annual forecasting for roaster partners as well as the business review process needed for ensuring continuous alignment and exceptional performance
  • Create internal processes and systems of accountability to ensure that Team Trade reliably exceeds our partners’ expectations of timeliness, transparency, and dependability in our communication and action
  • Work cross-functionally–especially with the Merchandizing and Product teams–to deliver new products and experiences to customers and drive Trade’s performance in growth, revenue, and margin
  • In partnership with the Product team, define the quarterly roadmap of tools and features to ensure that our internal team and our roaster partners operate efficiently
  • Own the communication of plans, performance, and metrics to Trade’s leadership team

You have…

  • Spent 5+ years working in operations management, preferably in direct-to-consumer e-commerce (subscription and/or marketplace experience is a plus)
  • A history of implementing metrics-centric frameworks to drive team and company performance
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including experience using data-management tools like Looker, Tableau, etc. to build dashboards and share insights
  • Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills
  • Experience building, rolling out, and maintaining cross-functional processes from 0 to 1

You’ll be successful in the role if…

  • You’re passionate about working with people and building relationships as a manager, a peer, and a business leader
  • You’re motivated to create clarity, process, and results out of ambiguity and opportunity
  • You’re comfortable operating across levels
  • You’re looking to build an incredible customer-facing business (bonus if you’re excited to do so in the specialty coffee space)

Office Guidelines

As part of the Trade team, you’ll get…
