We love discovering new coffees at home as much as you do! So, we’re letting you in on Team Trade’s current favorites with our weekly series, Staff Picks.
This "month" always comes as a surprise for me since it starts so abruptly in the middle of an actual calendar month. While it is meant to celebrate the heritage of Latine communities here in the states, it’s also heavily tied to national independence days for multiple Latine countries such as Belize, Chile, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, and Nicaragua.
I hope it’s not too difficult to see how we’re tying all of this back to coffee. With the exception of Belize and Chile, all of these countries produce some amazing coffees that are currently available on our site.
As a friendly reminder though, let’s make sure that we don’t have tunnel vision when it comes to the Latine coffee community. Specifically, in making sure that the only picture that comes to mind isn’t just of a coffee producer. We’re everywhere y’all, throughout the supply chain!
Okay, so now for the fun stuff: getting excited about coffees by incredible roasters and producers!
Best of: light roasts
Alma Slumber Decaf ($21.20)
For a smooth, chocolaty cup with a bit of peanut butter* sweetness. This is also a natural process coffee and a great example of how that doesn’t always mean you should expect a fruit bomb!
*Peanut butter as a flavor note does not mean that actual peanuts have come in contact with this coffee and pose no risk to those with peanut allergies.
Máquina Rose Diamond ($22.95)
A great natural process with jammy, strawberry sweetness for those looking to try something a bit different than the flavors most people think of when they think of coffee.
Alma Natural Process ($21.20)
Best of: medium roasts
Mother Tongue Decaf Fincas Mierisch ($24.75)
Máquina Bella Vista ($22.95)
Mother Tongue Bella Vista ($25.90)
Nope that’s not a typo! These last two are the same crop, just roasted by two different roasters. I love it when something like this happens as it’s such a great way to see how different roasting styles can impact the taste of the coffee.
