As the weather gets warmer, it’s getting increasingly harder and harder to sip on a hot cup of coffee. So the switch is slowly being made in my house towards iced coffee. Our little coffee nook is slowly transforming piece by piece from mugs to mason jars, auto drip filters to cold brew bags, and brown sugar to simple syrup.
Confession time: I’m not the biggest cold brew fan. I have it all set up since it’s what my partner, Demir, prefers, but personally I prefer flash brew instead. So I thought it’d be nice to share the coffees we're both excited to try this summer!
Demir for the most part likes more traditional flavor notes in his coffees — sometimes with a nice splash of milk and a bit of simple syrup, if the coffee's edging towards the darker side.
This coffee has a nice subtle citrus quality to it that comes through. This coffee would taste great as just a plain black cold brew. Refreshing, with a sweet milk chocolate quality to it.

Great Heights really serves on the fudgy qualities. This is something that Demir would personally prefer with a splash of milk and simple syrup.

This is our current go-to decaf for our auto drip, so it only makes sense that we’d try this out as cold brew too. It honestly pairs well with pretty much any coffee if you’re looking to blend your own half-caf!
Mother Tongue Decaf Fincas Mierisch ($21)
I, on the other hand, love the crazy flavors that can naturally occur in coffee, so I much prefer grabbing my Kalita Wave and flash brewing my iced coffee instead.
I’m currently at the edge of my seat waiting for this coffee to reach us at home. I’m personally a huge fan of Ethiopian coffees in general and can’t wait to brew this over ice in the mornings.
Verve Ethiopia Kata Maduga ($19.75)
Chocolaty coffees aren’t just for cold brew! As much as I love my tart fruity coffees, I’ll admit I’m not in the mood for them every single day. Some days you need a nice, smooth, chocolaty cup instead.

I can’t wait for my late nights at home to change to late nights outside. A warm, dark night, talking with great friends and sipping on this fruity and refreshing decaf — it’s all I’m looking forward to this summer.
