Staff Picks: National Espresso Day

Time to bust out the tiny mugs.

We love discovering new coffees at home as much as you do! So, we’re letting you in on Team Trade’s current favorites with our weekly series, Staff Picks.

When I think of espresso, only one thing comes to mind… “There are so many ways to have it!” Iced, with steamed milk, dry foam, straight-up, maybe even some maple syrup if you’re feeling adventurous.

Before all that though, I have to choose a coffee: Do I go fruity and bright, classic and punchy, or just sweet mellow and easy? Luckily, there’s an option for any mood I may find myself in. Here are a few of my favorite coffees for making espresso. Some are espresso-specific blends, some aren’t, but they’re all stellar when made into espresso with care. In honor of National Espresso Day on November 23, I've picked a few of my favorites.

PS If your espresso at home isn’t quite what you hoped for yet, this article details some common home brewing mistakes and how to remedy them!

Much gentler than the name would imply, Bear Hug from Dogwood Coffee is an easy brewing, chocolaty espresso blend that tastes like someone melted caramel in your cup. Just as good straight as it is with a splash of steamed milk.
